In 2003 I came in contact with Paul Tucker who told me about the 'Moorish Fretwork' that he had discovered in the Amelia S. Givin Library in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania.
It was Moses Y. Ransom who patented this idea for building lattice type screens from milled spiral rods.
Paul asked me to help him with some illustrations for his article 'Moorish Fretwork' (published in the Bridges Conference Proceedings of 2004). Working on the illustrations I also found some new structures that can be made with the spiral rods. One of them is the hexagonal weaving pattern.
